Central government employees who are enrolled under the scheme of CGHS are required to link their CGHS cards with the Ayushman Bharat Health Account. This has become mandatory under the directions of the Department of Health & Family Welfare under the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare.

This linking of the ABHA ID makes it easier to maintain medical records in one location for convenient access. Furthermore, the government has also listed a comprehensive guide and tutorial to assist in linking the beneficiary ID with the ABHA ID. Security concerns are also taken care of, as the data will only be supervised by healthcare providers and users, with the express consent of the person to whom it relates, in order to maintain a high level of data security.
